Patient policies
What to expect about prescriptions, refills, appointments, records, and communication.
Effective date: October 10, 2026
Prescriptions and controlled substances
Prescriptions are determined by the provider’s clinical assessment, applicable state and federal law, and safety considerations. Booking an appointment does not guarantee that any particular medication will be prescribed.
- Controlled substances, such as stimulants for ADHD, are prescribed only after an appropriate evaluation, when clinically indicated, and in line with Colorado and federal law. This may include checking the Colorado Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, a controlled-substance agreement, regular follow-up visits, and periodic monitoring.
- Lost or stolen controlled-substance prescriptions may not be replaced early.
- Please take medications only as prescribed and tell us about all other medications and supplements you use.
Refill requests
- Request refills through the patient portal or by calling (303) 304-5795, ideally several business days before you run out.
- Refills are handled during business hours and are not processed after hours, on weekends, or on holidays.
- Keeping your follow-up appointments is part of safe prescribing. A visit may be required before a refill is approved.
Appointments, cancellations, and missed visits
Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule, so the time can be offered to another patient. The practice’s cancellation notice period, late-arrival rules, missed-appointment fees, and payment policy are provided in writing at intake and apply once you become a patient.
Records, forms, and letters
Forms and letters, such as FMLA, disability, and work or school accommodation letters, are completed only for established patients in continuous treatment for a minimum of six months. See Documentation and Forms. Requests for medical records, forms, and letters must follow the practice’s established procedures. A signed authorization may be required, and fees and processing times may apply as allowed by law. Other providers may fax records to (888) 649-7004. For your rights regarding your records, see our Privacy Policy.
Messages and after-hours care
Routine messages, email, and voicemail are not monitored continuously and should not be used for emergencies. For an immediate crisis, call or text 988, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
For non-urgent questions, call (303) 304-5795, email info@sanintegrativepsych.com for general (non-clinical) matters, or use the secure patient portal for health information.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, if you are uninsured or not using insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected charges for your care. Ask for one before scheduling, or learn more at cms.gov/nosurprises.
Scope of care
San Integrative Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric care. It does not replace emergency or inpatient psychiatric services. Patients who need a higher level of care, such as hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, or specialized substance-use treatment, will be referred to appropriate services.
