How it works

How Psychiatric Care Works at SAN Integrative Psychiatry

From your first intake form to ongoing follow-up, here is what to expect, including telepsychiatry anywhere in Colorado, the insurance plans we accept, and our self-pay rates.

Get started to follow-up

Your care, step by step

Four simple steps take you from your first form to ongoing support.

Step 1 of 4

Complete Your Intake

Book online, by phone, or by email. You’ll receive secure registration and intake forms through our patient portal. Share your insurance information, a current medication list, and any prior records, which other providers can fax to us. Completing intake ahead of time lets your first visit focus on you.

Step 2 of 4

Psychiatric Evaluation

Meet with a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner for a comprehensive, 60-minute evaluation, in person at our Aurora office or by secure video. We review your symptoms, history, health, and goals, using validated screening tools when helpful. For ADHD concerns, we may add QbCheck, an FDA-cleared computer-based test you can take from home or in our office.

Step 3 of 4

Treatment Plan

Together we build a personalized plan that fits your needs and preferences. It may include medication, CBT-informed coping strategies, sleep and lifestyle guidance, and coordination with your therapist or primary care provider. You’ll understand the benefits, risks, and alternatives of every recommendation.

Step 4 of 4

Ongoing Follow-up

Regular 30-minute medication-management visits track your progress, side effects, and goals, so your plan can be adjusted as you improve. Visit frequency is based on your needs, and keeping follow-ups supports safe prescribing and timely refills.

Step 1 of 4

Telepsychiatry in Colorado

Your Mental Wellness, Wherever You Are

Getting support shouldn’t mean rearranging your life. With telepsychiatry, you can meet with a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner by secure video from the comfort and privacy of your own space, anywhere in Colorado. No commute, no waiting room, and care that fits around work, school, and family. Prefer to meet face to face? In-person visits are available at our Aurora office.

Available anywhere in Colorado

Telepsychiatry is available to patients who are physically located in Colorado at the time of each visit, from home, work, or school.

The same quality of care

Psychiatric evaluations, ADHD assessments, and medication-management follow-ups can all be done by secure video when clinically appropriate.

Private and secure

Visits use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You’ll review a telehealth consent before your first visit.

Easy to join

Use a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a reliable connection, and join from a private, quiet space.

Some situations call for an in-person visit, such as when vital signs are needed or video isn’t the safest option. We’ll let you know if that applies. Routine messages, email, and voicemail are not monitored continuously and should not be used for emergencies. For an immediate crisis, call or text 988, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.

Insurance

Insurance plans we accept

San Integrative Psychiatry is in network with the following plans for both in-person and telepsychiatry visits:

  • Aetna

  • Optum
  • First Health
  • Curative
  • Medicare
  • Railroad Medicare
  • Health First Colorado (Medicaid)
  • Colorado Access
  • Rocky Mountain Health Plans

Health First Colorado (Medicaid) members: behavioral health care is managed by your regional organization. We are in network with Colorado Access and Rocky Mountain Health Plans, but not currently with Colorado Community Health Alliance (CCHA). Call us if you are not sure which applies to you.

Insurance benefits and coverage vary by plan and service. Please contact your insurance company before your first visit to confirm eligibility, mental health benefits, copays, deductibles, and any prior-authorization requirements. Plan participation can change, so we confirm coverage when you schedule.

Don’t see your plan? We can see you as a self-pay patient and provide a superbill you may be able to submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

Documentation and forms

Documentation and Forms

To make sure documentation is accurate and clinically supported, forms and letters are completed only for established patients who have been in continuous treatment with San Integrative Psychiatry for a minimum of six months.

This includes forms and letters such as FMLA paperwork, short- or long-term disability forms, work or school accommodation letters, return-to-work letters, and other third-party documentation. A provider needs a meaningful treatment history to document your condition accurately and responsibly.

  • Six months of continuous care. You must be an established patient attending regular appointments, without a lapse in treatment, for at least six months.
  • Clinical discretion. Completion is not guaranteed and is based on the provider’s clinical judgment and what can be accurately documented.
  • A visit may be required. Some forms need a dedicated appointment to review your current status.
  • Allow processing time. Submit forms well before any deadline. Administrative fees may apply and will be shared before the work is done.
  • Not affected by this policy: requests for your medical records, which are your right under HIPAA, and pharmacy or prior-authorization forms needed for your current treatment. See our patient policies.
