Bipolar disorder treatment
Periods of very high energy, little need for sleep, or racing thoughts, followed by stretches of deep depression, can disrupt relationships, work, and health. The right treatment can bring more stability.
Common signs
- Episodes of elevated or irritable mood
- Decreased need for sleep
- Racing thoughts or rapid speech
- Impulsive spending or risk-taking
- Periods of depression between episodes
- Mood changes that affect work or relationships
Only a qualified clinician can make a diagnosis. These signs are a starting point for a conversation, not a self-diagnosis.
How treatment works
An accurate diagnosis matters, because bipolar disorder is treated differently from depression. Care includes a detailed mood history, mood-stabilizing medication options, any lab monitoring those medications require, sleep and routine planning, and early-warning-sign plans you can share with loved ones.
Appointments are available in person at our Aurora office or by secure video anywhere in Colorado, including the Denver metro area.
