Insomnia and sleep difficulties
Lying awake for hours, waking in the middle of the night, or never feeling rested affects mood, focus, and health. Sleep problems are often tied to anxiety, depression, or stress, and treating both together works best.
Common signs
- Trouble falling or staying asleep
- Waking too early and not getting back to sleep
- Daytime fatigue or irritability
- Racing thoughts at bedtime
- Relying on alcohol or over-the-counter aids to sleep
- Sleep problems lasting three months or more
Only a qualified clinician can make a diagnosis. These signs are a starting point for a conversation, not a self-diagnosis.
How treatment works
We look for what is driving the sleep problem, including mood, anxiety, medications, caffeine, schedule, and medical factors, and screen for conditions such as sleep apnea that need a referral. Treatment emphasizes CBT-informed sleep strategies, with medication used carefully when appropriate.
Appointments are available in person at our Aurora office or by secure video anywhere in Colorado, including the Denver metro area.
